God's Standard for Men and Women

In the 60's, the world started to make the men and women the same with the unisex clothing. Leave God out of the picture and common sense will tell you they are different and can never be the same. As a young boy growing up in the country, it didn't take me long to realize that boys and girlswere different and that two boys or two girls could not have children.
 

In the creation, God created a man and a woman. Now they are incomplete without each other. The husbandis the head of the wife, and the wife is the help meet for the man. Ephesians 5:23, "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body." Genesis 2:18-24. "And the LORD GOD said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD GOD formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not
found an help meet for him. And the LORD GOD caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD GOD had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." They both have their place, but they are not the same.
 

In the fall, God dealt with the man differently than the woman. The woman was deceived, not Adam.
I Timothy 2:14. "And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgres --sion." Therefore, God's judgment required the woman to be in subjection to the man, and this is a difference that has never changed no matter how politically incorrect it is.
 

God's perfect role for the man and woman is for the man to be the provider, and the woman to guide the house. I Timothy 5:14 "I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully." Now before you get too mad at me, you must realize that we do not live in a perfect world, and the Devil has our economy in such a mess that in some cases, it takes two to make a living. Sixty years ago, one man could work and make a living for his family. But all the taxes he paid were not more that ten percent. Now the tax rate is at least forty to fifty percent, so now one person works to pay the taxes, and the other makes the living. I must say that if the only reason a woman works is to keep up with the Jones‘, then she is out of the will of God. The perfect will of God would be for her to be a keeper at home.
 

God's Standard for the Man

God created man first and gave him the responsibility of leading his wife. Genesis 2:16 "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:" Eve did not hear God say she could not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, so it was Adam’s place to tell her. We see the man is not only the spiritual leader, but is the saviour of the body also. Ephesians 5:23 "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church:
and he is the saviour of the body."
 

Men are to be manly. Notice the following scripture. I Samuel 4:9, "Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight." I Kings 2:2, "I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;" I Corinthians 6:9-10 “Know you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor
effeminate, not abusers of themselves with mankind. Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." Today we have men running around with earrings, necklaces, bracelets, flowered Bermuda shorts, and claim to be manly. The only time I find men wearing women's jewelry, in the Bible, is when the children of Israel came out of Egypt, (a type of the world), and the Ishmaelites. Judges 8:24, "And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a
request of you, that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey. For they had golden earrings, because the were Ishmaelites."
 

The man was instructed to wear breeches 5 times in the word of God. Exodus 28:42, "And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even into the thighs they shall reach:" Exodus 39:28, "And a mitre of fine linen, and goodly bonnets of fine linen, and linen breeches of fine twined linen," Leviticus 6:10,  "And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen breeches shall he put upon his flesh, and take up the ashes which the fire hath consumed with the burnt
offering on the altar, and he shall put them beside the altar." Leviticus 16:4, "He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on." Ezekiel 44:18. "They shall have linen bonnets upon their heads, and shall have linen breeches upon their loins; they shall not gird themselves with any thing that causeth sweat."
No where can you find a woman told to wear or wearing breeches. When the men wore a robe, (not a dress), they also wore breeches under their robe. When the man was going to do work or run he would gird up his loins. He would pull his robe up and fix it in the girdle, so it would not be in his way when he ran. 1 Kings 18:46, “And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up
his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.” With his loins girded his breeches would keep his nakedness covered. Comparing Isaiah 47:1-3 and Exodus 28:42, “Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground; there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate. Take the millstones, and grind meal:
uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers. Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.” Exodus 28:42, "And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach." We see that the Bible interprets nakedness being from
the loins unto the thigh. The 1828 Webster’s dictionary gives the following definition for the Loins: “The loins are the space on each side of the vertebrae, between the lowest of the false ribs and the upper portion of the osilium or haunch bone, or the lateral portions of the Lombard region, called also reins.” The definition for thigh: “That part of men quadrupeds and fowls, which is between the leg
and the trunk. The word signifies it is the thick part of the lower limbs.” The definition for leg: “That part of the limb from the knee to the foot.”
 

Now that we know the definition of the words leg, thigh, and lions, let's look again at Exodus 28:42. "And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach." The priest was to wear breeches to cover his nakedness, which is from his loins to the thigh. Now go back and look at Isaiah 47:2-3. The scripture says in verse 2; make bare the leg, uncover the thigh. Now look at verse 3. Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, not made bare. So by comparing scripture with scripture, we find that a man or woman's nakedness is from the leg, to the loins, which is the thigh, and should never be seen in public.
 

The man, in order to be manly must keep his hair cut short. I Corinthians 11:14,"Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?" The Jewish men were told to do two things against nature. One, be circumcised, two, cut their hair, but not to around the corners. Leviticus 19:27 "Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard." The only time he was to let his hair grow long, was when he was under a Nazarite vow and as soon as his vow was over, he was to shave his head. Absalom let his hair grow a year at a time, and became the first hippie. His rebellion about his hair also showed in his daily life. Long hair on a man is an act of rebellion against God.
 

Some may say what is long? When a man's hair covers that which a woman's covers, it is too long. A woman's long hair will cover the back of her neck,her ears, and forehead. So a man's hair should be consistent with his hair line. Anything longer is effeminate and rebellion.
 

We have come to a place in time, that men have become so vain and worldly that they are wearing make-up. They say they are not queers, but I find it hard to believe when I see a boy, or man, or whatever it is, wearing lipstick, eye make-up, bracelets, flowered Bermudas, long hair, etc.
 

God’s Standard for the Woman
 

Now let us consider the woman and God's standard for her. Women have more of a problem about what other women think of them than men do. So the style
influences them more than it does men. I had a woman tell me one time that women dress to impress other women more than men, and this may be so. Deuteronomy 22:5 "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God." The women are not to wear that which pertaineth to the man. The word pertain means to have reference to, to be fitting or suitable. (American Heritage Dictionary) Any clothing that causes a woman to look manly is wrong.
 

The woman did not wear a girdle or breeches in the Old Testament. They wore long flowing garments. Therefore, the curvature of their bodies was not glorified!
 

In the New Testament, the women are instructed to dress in modest apparel. I Timothy 2:9 "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array." In other words, not strutting the flesh. She is to draw attention to the hidden man of the heart. I Peter 3:3-5 "Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:" When a savedwoman puts on pants, then she is drawing attention to her sexual powers instead of Jesus, the hidden man of the heart.
 

Some will say; “Yeah, but pants are not really that immodest." The following is from What in the World Should I Wear? By Mrs. Cathy Corle: "A friend of mine told me that her decision to restrict her wardrobe to dresses and skirts came as a result of a ladies' class. All the arguments and reasons that could be given were unheeded until the lady who was speaking said, "Let me just demonstrate something to you.” She asked the ladies in the audience to close their eyes momentarily.
She held up a large picture of a woman in an attractive, modest feminine skirt and blouse. She asked the ladies to open their eyes. Then she inquired, "What is the primary focal point to this picture? Where do your eyes first fall naturally?" The audience agreed that their eyes were first drawn to the face of the woman in the picture. She once again asked the ladies to close their eyes. When they opened their eyes, they were looking at a large poster of a woman in a sport shirt and blue jeans.
She asked, "Now, be honest with yourselves, and tell me where your eyes first fell naturally when you looked at this picture?" Many of the ladies in the crowd were surprised to find that most people's eyes first focused upon the hips and crotch area that were so vividly emphasized before they ever noticed the woman's face. If this happened in a crowd of ladies, how much more would it be true of men? For my friend, Joetta, this was all the evidence that was needed." A preacher by the
name of Sammy Allen said, "There are too many curves and cracks for a woman to wear pants."
 

Pants are a symbol of authority, as evidenced by the saying "I'm the one who wears the pants in the family." Sadly, most women might as well wear the pants, sincethey rule their homes anyway! Some women, who have given up their pants for Jesus' sake, have testified that when they put their pants on, they felt more powerful. God says the woman is not to usurp the authority over the man and that is not just in church. I Timothy 2:12 "But I suffer not a woman to teach, not to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." This is so from the beginning.
 

A woman’s hair is given for a glory and covering 1Corinthians 11:15 “But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.” Women will bob their hair, put their pants on, get a job, be in subjection to another woman's husband all day, and come home and lord it over their own husband. This is wickedness in the sight of God Almighty. It is killing our families, churches, and nation. If there is not a repentance and return to Godly living and standards, then all three will become history.
