THE FOLLY OF THE DOCTRINE OF NO GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE & REMARRIAGE.

(Pro 26:4-5) Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

Since getting the truth on this doctrine, God has allowed my path to cross with several preachers who still believe that people in this condition are second rate Christians and I will examine their foolish defiance to the belief. The names in these illustrations are not complete to protect the guilty.

When preachers found out how I stood on this doctrine they would not have fellowship with me and wanted to change me. One day Craig E. came to tune our piano at the church. After tuning the piano he came into my office. As we fellowshipped he brought up the subject on divorce and remarriage. I changed the subject twice but he went there the third time. I opened my Bible to I Corinthians 7:27-28 and read it to him then asked him what it meant. He replied, I don= t know but it doesn't mean what you say it means and stormed out of the office.

Preacher Hinkle L. would testify of having a bastard child of which he supported even when he was grown. Yet this same preacher would fight a preacher who was divorced and remarried.

Preacher Red K. would all but put a preacher who was divorced and remarried in Hell, yet when his daughter ended up in a divorce and remarried and he wanted her to continue playing the piano, he had a preacher come to the church to teach that there are grounds for divorce and remarriage. Circumstances changed his doctrine.

Preacher George C. a dear friend of mine, was totally against any divorce no matter the grounds. He came by the office and we discussed this doctrine. He could not answer some of my comments. I let him borrow a book, Divorce and Remarriage by Guy Duty, some tapes by Dr. Peter Ruckman and myself. Two weeks later he called to tell me that I was right but he could not preach the truth because he would loose his support..

I was in a camp meeting in Milton, FL when a young preacher was called on to preach. During his message he gave his testimony of his fornicating lifestyle. He stated that he had some bastard children and had shacked up with several women. After his preaching his pastor, Joe A. went to Bro. Jr. Chambers and said he had never been married so this was OK.

A preacher preaching on the radio in Wilkesboro, NC was against any one who had been divorced and remarried. He was young and as most young preachers tying to impress others, he made the following statement: A Moses gave the people the right to divorce but not to remarry. I have checked every verse in the Bible.@ He lied like a dog. He never checked Deuteronomy 24:1-4.

Preacher Roger W. preaching at camp meeting at the White Plains Baptist Church was preaching against divorce and remarriage and read Matthew 19:4-8 and would not read verse 9 because he could not handle it and preach his message.

Attending a preachers= fellowship, the pastor Edmanston whose church we were at said, A I have the final booklet on marriage and Divorce by Jim . A I bought the booklet. He states that Jesus did not approve of divorce on any grounds and gives Matthew 19:9 as a proof text.

I have carried a tract that was printed by Good News Baptist Church of Virginia Beach. The essence of this tract is that a person can be saved but not a member of their church, unless the person divorced the second mate and remarried their first mate. According to them, their church was purer than the Body Of Christ.

Preacher Ferrel S. talked with one of my men and could not answer the scriptures that he was given. So then he came back with the vow that a person makes in marriage, so breaking of this vow disqualifies a person from service. Is there a person that has never broken a vow to God? May he please acknowledge himself. I would like to dust his shoes. What makes one vow more important than another?

I heard of a preacher who= s daughter ended up in a divorce. In order to justify it he said the husband was never saved so it was not a marriage made in heaven. Not realizing that by saying this he made his daughter a fornicating single woman. What a person will do to prove his beliefs.

Let= s look at another folly of this doctrine of devils. The devils, in order to hinder God= s men who had a bad marriage which ended in divorce according to this Catholic and devil inspired doctrine he is now disqualified from pastoring and if he remarries he is lower than trash.

In order to prove their doctrine they go to I Timothy 3:2 A A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;@ . If you just look at this verse without comparing scripture with scripture not only must he not be a polygamist, he has to have a wife. Notice the word A must@ - necessary, essential - so by private interpretation this would disqualify all single preachers and the Apostle Paul. A man would become disqualified if his wife died seeing he would not have a wife.

You will notice there is no exception in this verse but they will insert it for their convenience. But remembering that Peter said no scripture is of a private interpretation then we must compare scripture with scripture.

By private interpretation he must have children and they must be in subjection and faithful. Here again by private interpretation you disqualify a large number of men which is the motive of the devils of Hell.

This same group says that if a person, before he gets saved,  is married and divorced  is disqualified, so the divorce become an unpardonable sin and the blood of Christ can= t cleanse it.

Some in order to prove their doctrine say that divorce in the Bible was just for people who were espoused not married. If that be so in Deuteronomy twenty-four the woman and man were shacking up. They also use Joseph and Mary but Joseph and Mary are a special case due to the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, married before coming together and it was OK to travel together day and night. Seeing they were already married you do notice they both stayed in the stable together. We know God chose this couple because they had high moral standards and would not have been staying together had they not been married in God= s eyes. Matthew 1:20 A But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.@

Some teach that it is OK to be an evangelist but not to pastor. To believe this would make two standards for preachers yet the pastors would use these evangelists in their pulpit if they believed what they teach.

I know people who have been married, divorced and remarried who did a great work for God. I remember hearing Jack Wood say the brethren may never forgive but I am sure Jesus, at the Judgment Seat of Christ, will forgive me for all the souls I won and all the support I raised for missionaries seeing I was not qualified.
