As I start this study you need to know I will not change one word, or
the meaning of one word in the King James Bible (such as
whosoever,
every man,
all men, any,
and
world), seeing it is the authority. If you have
to change one word or its meaning in the K. J. B. to prove your
doctrine, your doctrine is wrong. If you don’t believe the King
James Bible is the word of God without proven error or
contradiction then you are your own authority and there is no
hope for you. So don’t waste your time reading this, seeing you
think you are smarter than God.
This doctrine of devils has been around a
long time. It started with a man by the name of Augustine who
taught that if a baby died a span long, if not elected, would go
to Hell. Then John Calvin came along and he could not accept
babies going to Hell so he said any baby that died was in the
elect. This doctrine has been passed down from preacher to
preacher who has been deceived and blinded by devils.
The men who teach this doctrine will not
admit that predestination puts some in Heaven and some in Hell.
They say God never predestinated anyone to go to Hell. There are
only two places to go when one dies: Heaven or Hell. If you are
not predestinated to go to Heaven, then you must be predestined
for Hell. Predestination works both ways. Anybody with any sense
can see this.
I pastored a
Baptist
Church
for ten years in a Primitive Baptist hot bed. While I was
pastoring in that area, Jettie Harper started coming to our
church. About the third time she came, she came to the altar. I
asked her what she wanted and she said she wanted to be saved.
Later, after being saved, she told me she was eighty-two years
old and had been in a Primitive Baptist Church all of her life
but had never heard the truth on how to be saved. Another man
that was about sixty-five years old and had been in a
Primitive
Baptist
Church
all of his life, did not know a person could be saved and know
it. All the Primitive Baptist in that area accused me of being a
heretic but praise be to God, He saved a lot of their children
and grandchildren.
Another thing that I have observed through
the years is that this group is made up of two kinds of people,
the educated and the uneducated. By their quotes it is hard to
tell the difference in the content, but in vocabulary you can
tell. Let me share a few with you:
I am happy that I am ignorant and I would be
happier if I was ignoranter.
If my children go to hell I will praise God for
ever seeing it was His will.(If you believe
Calvinism you have to agree with this statement.)
Two God given rights are the right to bare
arms and to make liquor.
Don’t study just open your mouth and God will
fill it.
You can’t know that you are saved until
judgment day.
Augustine, said “Who created the reprobate
[the lost sinner whose sins were never paid for in limited
atonement] but God? And why? Because He willed it. Why did he
will it? Who art thou o man that repliest against God?”
Augustine, “Babies not a span long, that die
and are not a part of the elect go to hell.”
In the counsel halls of eternity God
predestinated the elect to be saved.
There will be more people in heaven who never
darkened the doors of a church than those who did. The church is
a crutch for those who are weak.
You be the judge who is the educated and the
uneducated.
Some may say, what do Primitive Baptist believe?
They believe John Calvin's doctrine. So for some who may
be reading this article and don't understand this doctrine, I
will explain it and refute it at the same time using their own
booklet.
The word TULIP is an acrostic for their
doctrine: T
- total depravity of man,
U - unconditional election,
L - limited atonement,
I - irresistible grace and
P - perseverance of the saints.
Let's take a close look at each point.
By total depravity
- they mean that a man is totally depraved with out a will of
his own and therefore cannot accept Jesus Christ as saviour,
unless elected.
Unconditional election
- they mean that before the foundation of the world God chose
who would go to heaven and who would not.
Limited atonement
- Jesus only shed His blood for those who would
get saved.
Irresistible grace - a person who has been elected and atonement made for cannot reject
God’s salvation.
Perseverance of the saints - those who are elected and atoned for, thereby accepting God’s
salvation, will persevere.
This doctrine is called the five points of
Calvinism. The question often comes up, How many points are you?
Some will say, I am a two pointer, three pointer, five pointer
etc. You can’t be a one, two, or three pointer without being a
five pointer. How can you pick out two or three points when they
all tie together? I am not even a one pointer. You may say, Then
you must believe you can loose your salvation. Not so. The Bible
teaches that we are secure in Christ, then it is not up to me to
persevere!
To further explain and refute the Calvinist doctrine I will use their
tract, "What Do Primitive Baptist Believe?" by Elder Lasserre Bradley, Jr., printed by Baptist Bible Hour, Inc.,
Cincinnati,
OH
We will go through their booklet to show how
the devils have messed up their minds. The way they teach their
doctrine in this booklet is by asking a question and then
answering it. Their questions and answers will be in italic
letters.
Question I
"What is the basic difference between
Primitive Baptist and other religious societies?"
Answer:
The basic difference is that Primitive Baptists believe in
salvation by grace. There are really only two positions that a
person can occupy on this matter. One is that salvation is by
grace, and the other is that salvation is by works. It cannot be
a combination of the two. A person may say that he believes in
salvation by grace, but if he sets forth any act of man’s will,
such as repentance, faith, baptism, or hearing the gospel, as a
condition for obtaining it, then this position must be put on
the works side. Primitive Baptists believe that salvation is of
the Lord, that it is by His grace, and that nothing needs to be
added to it.
The rebuttal: In their answer they state that any act of a man's will
is works salvation and not by grace. What does the Bible teach?
1. Repentance - Luke 13:3
"I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye
shall all likewise perish",
Acts 17:30 -
"And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all
men every where to repent:", Romans 2:4 - "Or
despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and
longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee
to repentance?", II Corinthians 7:10 -
"For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to
be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death" and II Peter 3:9 -
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
To ignore repentance is to ignore the teachings of Jesus, God,
Paul and Peter. 2. Faith - Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are
ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:
it is
the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.", Romans 10:17 - "So then faith
cometh
by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. ",
Romans 3:25 - 31 "Whom God hath set forth
to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his
righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through
the forbearance of God; To declare,
I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the
justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where
is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law?
of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude
that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Is he
the God of the Jews only?
is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing
it is
one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and
uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law
through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.", Romans 4:5 -
"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the
ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." and Romans 5:1 -
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ:" I could give many more verses that show the
folly of their belief. The question that comes to mind is, How
many verses does a person ignore to prove his unscriptural
position? 3. Hearing the Gospel - Ephesians 1:12 - 13 "That
we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in
Christ. In whom ye also
trusted,
after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were
sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, " When does a person trust in Jesus Christ? After ye have heard the
Word of truth. (verse 13) Romans
10:17
"So then faith
cometh
by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, Have they
not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and
their words unto the ends of the world." They teach that you must be quickened (made
alive) before you can hear the gospel.
Eph 2:1-5 And you
hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked
according to the course of this world, according to the prince
of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the
children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our
conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling
the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the
children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in
mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we
were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by
grace ye are saved;)
When a person is quickened he is saved
(verse 5), so what they actually teach is
that a person is saved before he can hear the gospel. Yet the
Bible says you must hear before you can be save. Notice again
Rom.
10:17,
3:25-31, 4:5 and Eph. 1:12-13 which you just
read. My question is how many scriptures are you going to wrest
to your own destruction and thereby call God a liar to prove a
false doctrine?
Question
II. What do Primitive Baptists believe about the fall of man?
Answer: That Adam willfully transgressed the law of God and therefore
plunged himself and his posterity into a state of guilt and
corruption (Romans
5 :12-19).
That now man in his natural state is dead in trespasses and sins
(Ephesians 2:1) and is unable to recover himself by an act of
his own “free-will” (John 1:13; John 6:44; Romans 3:10-20;
Romans 9:16).
Rebuttal:
In answer to this nonsense, notice the double talk. A man can
willfully transgress the law but he cannot willfully believe on
Jesus Christ. A person has to be devil influenced to make such a
foolish statement, surely to God he could not naturally believe
this. Now let's examine their scriptures: Romans 5:12 - 19, This
passage does describe the condition of a lost man but it does
not say that he has no will as they have already stated, Adam
willfully transgressed. Ephesians 2:1 - "And you
hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;". When Adam and Eve sinned against God they died spiritually. From
Adam children were born with a dead spirit but live body and
soul. The heart of man consists of his intellect, will and
emotions. The Bible is plain on this subject by the first three
times the heart of God is mentioned. Genesis 6:5 - 7 "And GOD
saw that the wickedness of man
was great in the earth, and
that every imagination of the thoughts of his
heart
was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man
on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the
LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face
of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and
the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made
them."
Genesis 8:21 “And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the
LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any
more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart
is
evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every
thing living, as I have done.”
So he has the ability to believe, surrender
his will and set his emotions on the Lord Jesus Christ, seeing
that man was created in His likeness and after His image. Now
notice in Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin;
and so death passed upon all men, for that all have
sinned:
the term
all men, which is found in sixty one verses in the new testament, and means
ALL
MEN. The Calvinist say the elect are different from all men, so do
Calvinist believe they are men? When you mess with God’s Word
(the King James Bible) God messes with your mind and you have no
spiritual discernment.
They now turn to John 1:13 -
"Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God.", to try to prove that it is only through
God’s will and predestination that a person can be saved and the
person has nothing to do with it. They fail to point to John
1:11, “He came unto his own, and his own received
him not.”
notice it says He came to His own
(Webster’s dictionary, own means belong to) and they didn’t
receive Him. If they belonged to Him, according to their
doctrine of election, then they could not have rejected Him,
seeing they would not have a will, or be able to resist His
grace. John
1:12
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons
of God,
even
to them that believe on his name:” This scripture sets the order of the new
birth. A person must first receive Jesus Christ by believing on
Him and thereby become a son of God. Now look at John 5:39-40
“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye
have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye
will not come to me, that ye might have life. I receive
not honour from men.”
This is a verse that either makes Jesus Christ a
liar or the Calvinist a liar and we know who the liar is. In
verse 40 Jesus Christ said “ye will not come”. Now
according to the Primitive Baptist, people can’t come
until they already have eternal life (been quickened). So who is
the liar?
Question III
How do Primitive Baptists support their view of unconditional
election?
Answer: They believe that Ephesians chapter one plainly teaches that
before the foundation of the world, God, according to His own
sovereign pleasure, elected a people to eternal salvation and
made all of the arrangements necessary for them to live with Him
in glory.
Rebuttal: The scripture they are using is Ephesians 4:1-13
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the
world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in
love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by
Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his
will, To the praise of the glory of his grace,
wherein he hath made us accepted in the
beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to
his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the
dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in
one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which
are on earth;
even in him: In whom also we have obtained an
inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him
who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That
we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in
Christ. In whom ye also
trusted,
after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed
with that holy Spirit of promise,” and notice that Calvinist make no comments on these scriptures. So I
will make some comments and some comparisons with other
scriptures. In verse 4 notice the words in Him. When does
a person get in Christ? According to the Calvinist God choose us
in Him before the foundation of the world. If this was true then
all that were elected would have been chosen in Him at the same
time.
They will not deal with Romans 16:7,
Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellowprisoners, who
are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ
before me.
You do notice that the greatest Christian
that ever lived said some people were in Christ before himself.
Also they forget to read and compare Ephesians 2:11-13 “Wherefore remember, that ye
being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by
that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by
hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being
aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the
covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God
in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who
sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”with their doctrine
. Verse 12 says there was a time when we were without Christ and had no
hope. If I was in Christ before the foundation of the world
there has never been a time when I was without Christ and
without hope. Ephesians 1:12-23
That we should be to the praise of his
glory, who
first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also
trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye
were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
again gives the order of salvation,
1. First trusted in Christ.
2.
After ye heard
the word of truth.
3.
After ye believed.
4.
Ye were sealed. How could this have taken place before the
foundation of the world when I did not exist at that time? II
Thessalonians 2:13-14
“But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren
beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen
you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and
belief of the truth: Whereunto he called you by our
gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus
Christ.”
Paul uses the words “from the beginning”. The beginning and
before the foundation of the world are not the same. Beginning
is dealing with time and time did not start before the world was
created. Which is it, in time or before time? Calvinist have a
problem with this time. What did Paul say the men were chosen to
? Salvation through sanctification of the spirit and belief of
the truth and their belief was in the gospel preached by Paul,
verse 14. This could not have taken place before the foundation
of the earth. By comparing scripture with scripture we learn
that all in Christ are chosen to be holy and without blame
before Him. Verse 5 God predestinated the plan of salvation that
by being in Jesus Christ we would be children of God to the
praise of the glory.
Question 4:
What is their position on predestination?
Answer: They believe that God has predestinated a great number to be
conformed to the image of His Son (Romans
8:28-30).
While some object to this doctrine because they say it is
unfair, Primitive Baptists rejoice in it, for they see that had
it not been for predestination, the whole human family would
have been lost forever. Predestination is not the thing that
condemns a man, or puts him in a ruined condition, but the very
thing that gets him out of such a state. Predestination concerns
not “what” but “whom”. It is the great purpose of God to lift a
people up from sin and corruption and make them like Jesus
Christ. That’s glorious!
Rebuttal: They believe that God has predestinated a great number to be
conformed to the image of His Son, Romans 8:28-30 And we know
that all things work together for good to them that love God, to
them who are the called according to
his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate
to be
conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the
firstborn among many
brethren.
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom
he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them
he also glorified.” and then they go farther and say,
predestination is not the thing that condemns a man or puts him
in a ruined condition, but the very thing that gets him out of
such a state. So they are saying this refers to salvation.
Now let’s take a careful look at Romans
8:29-30 in light of other scriptures. In verse 28 the ones who
are the called are the ones that love God. Did anyone love God
before they were saved? They have a one track mind and the
calling is always a salvation call. Here the call is for his
purpose, to conform us to the image of his son.
In verse 29 the first word we need to consider
is
foreknow - to fore see or know before. Foreknowledge
does not mean the same as predestination nor does it mean that
some have to be predestinated. I like to use the example, when I
bought my boy a bike I foreknew he would wreck it and he did,
but I did not predestinate it to happen.
Who are the many brethren? You will notice it does not say all the
brethren but many brethren. Before I answer this question I must
point out the fact that Paul wrote all of verses 29-30 in past
tense including glorified.
So who ever he is talking about had already been
glorified. That can’t be the saved of today, as the
Calvinist would say, we are still in our old bodies. The many
brethren being already glorified must be those saints, who
resurrected after Jesus’ resurrection in Matthew 27:52-53
“And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which
slept arose, And came out of the graves after his
resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto
many.”.
Compare this with (Isa 26:19) Thy dead
men shall live,
together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew
is as
the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. and EPH. 4:8
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led
captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
I Corinthians
15:23
“But every man in his own order: Christ the
firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming” These many brethren being already resurrected would have been
glorified when Paul wrote this and it would have been written in
the past tense.
Question 5 -
Did not Jesus die for the whole human race?
Answer: No, the Scriptures will not support that idea. Jesus said He
came into the world to do the will of His Father, and that will
was that He should have all who were given Him (the elect) even
before the world began (John 6:37-39). Jesus came to save HIS
PEOPLE from their sins, and He did it (Matthew
1:21;
Romans
8:33,34).
He died for His sheep, not for goats (John
10:15).
He died for sons, for the sanctified, for the brethren, for the
church, and for the children (Hebrews 2:9-15). He saw the
travail of His soul and was satisfied (Isaiah 53:10-12).
Rebuttal: You will notice they call those given to Jesus the elect but
the scriptures do not say this. Hebrews 2:9 -15
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the
suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by
the grace of God should taste death for every
man. For it became him, for whom
are all things, and by whom
are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of
their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that
sanctifieth and they who are sanctified
are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst
of the church will I sing praise unto thee. And again, I will
put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which
God hath given me. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers
of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the
same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power
of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear
of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Verse 9 says that Jesus Christ tasted death for
every man. Now look at II Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” Peter said not willing
any should perish
but that
all
should come to repentance. They would say
that the “any” and “all” are the elect but they forgot I Timothy
2:1-6
“ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions,
and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and
for all that are in authority; that we may lead
a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For
this
is good and acceptable in the sight of God our
Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come
unto the knowledge of the truth. For
there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due
time.” where in verse 4 Paul uses the word “all men” and you can’t
substitute the elect here unless you are a crook and think your
readers are stupid. Prayer is to be made for all men, this can’t
mean the elect because it includes all in authority and we know
they are not all in the elect. Then he uses the same phrase “all
men be saved”. Did he mean the elect here and not the elect the
first time? Calvinist would say; “that’s right” but that would
be private interpretation. (Titus 2:11
“For the grace of God that bringeth
salvation hath appeared to all men,” notice the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to
all men.)
Read the following verses. 1John 2:1-2
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.
And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for
our sins: and not for ours only,
but also for
the sins of
the whole world. John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man
eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I
will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the
world.
Rev 22:17
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And
let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst
come. And whosoever
will, let him take the water of life freely.
Rom 10:9-13
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the
dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth
on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between
the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto
all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be saved.
John
3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. In these verses that I have just listed you will notice the
underlined words make it plain that “ whosoever” means any man.
God must be confused or he doesn’t know the difference between
the elect and the nonelect. Only the ignorant, crooks, deceivers
and devil possessed would twist the word of God as the Calvinist
do. The Calvinist should write their own Bible and call it Sheep
Food, then they could quit correcting God’s word.
Question 6 - Do Primitive Baptists deny that Christ died for the
world?
Answer:
No, they believe that the world for which He died was the world
of His elect. The world of souls for which He died do not have
their trespasses imputed to them and therefore cannot be
condemned (II Corinthians
5:18-19).
Rebuttal: The first thing that needs to be considered is II
Corinthians 5:14-15
“For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge,
that if one died for all, then were all dead: And
that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth
live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose
again.” which says Jesus died for all. Now comparing this with II
Timothy1:1-6 and II Peter 3:9 you have to be influenced by
devils to say that the “all” in these verses just includes the
elect.
Question 7 -
How do you know that all of the elect will respond to the call
of the Spirit?
Answer : All of the called are justified, so all who were called were
called effectually (Romans
8:30).
Jesus said all that the Father giveth me SHALL come (John
6:37).
Rebuttal: When they use Romans 8:30
“Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he
also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and
whom he justified, them he also glorified.”
they again show blindness to whom this refers. Notice they have
already been glorified. They use John
6:37
“All that the Father giveth me shall come to
me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” and forget, either through blindness or deliberately, about John
12:32 “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all
men unto me. This he said, signifying what
death he should die.”,
all men are drawn.
What makes the call effectually is the person’s response to the call.
Mark
10:13-23 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them:
and
his
disciples rebuked those that brought
them. But when Jesus saw
it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little
children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of
such is the kingdom of God.Verily I say unto you, Whosoever
shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child,
he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put
his hands upon them, and blessed them. And when he was gone forth into
the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked
him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal
life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good?
there is
none good but one,
that is, God.Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not
kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not,
Honour thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him,
Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus
beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou
lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the
poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come,
take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying,
and went away grieved: for he had great possessions. And Jesus
looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly
shall they that have riches enter into the
kingdom of
God!
Jesus says if a person will not come he can
not enter the
kingdom of
God. This young man came to Jesus
seeking eternal life
and it says that
Jesus loved him, Jesus then instructs him as to what he needs to do to have eternal
loife, which included “come follow me” and the young man
went away. In this scripture Jesus loved the man, which
according to the Calvinist, was a vessel fit for destruction.
How could Jesus love one who He did not die for?
II Peter 2:1-3
“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as
there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring
in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them,
and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall
follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth
shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they
with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now
of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth
not.” I Corinthians
6:20
“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your
body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” I Corinthians
7:23
“Ye are bought with a price; be not ye
the servants of men.”
Since Jesus Christ died for all men then
these false prophets were bought by Jesus Christ, their debt was
paid for just as those who get saved, but these went to hell. He
atoned for some who went to hell. This makes limited atonement
another lie.
Question 8 - Do you not then teach that some
might want salvation but could not have it because they are not
one of the elect?
Answer: No, the man who wants salvation already
HAS
it. The man who hungers and thirsts (desires
it) after righteousness is a blessed character (Matthew 5:2-6).
The alien sinner doesn’t want salvation, he doesn’t fear God,
and he doesn’t love God; therefore we conclude that the man who
wants salvation, fears God and loves God is a subject of grace
(Romans 3:11,18; I John 4:10).
Rebuttal: To prove their damnable doctrine they take Matthew 5:2-6
“And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed
are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven. Blessed
are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed
are
the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed
are
they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they
shall be filled.”, which is the law of the millennial reign, and apply it to their
so-called elect in the church age. They then use Romans
3:11,18
“There is none that understandeth, there is
none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way,
they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth
good, no, not one. There is no fear of God before their eyes.” without considering the words “none” and “all” this is wresting the
scripture unto their own destruction. Romans 3:9-10 “What
then? are we better
than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles,
that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is
none righteous, no, not one:” In verse ten the Bible says there are none
righteous so according to their doctrine it never has applied to
them, seeing they were in Christ before the foundation of the
world.
Before people get saved they are without Christ, Ephesians 2:12
“That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the
commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of
promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:”
and were dead in trespasses and sins, being children of wrath.
Ephesians 2:1-5 “And you
hath he quickened,
who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye
walked according to the course of this world, according to the
prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in
the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our
conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling
the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the
children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in
mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we
were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by
grace ye are saved;)” Matthew 19:16-22 “And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good
Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal
life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good?
there is none good but one,
that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He
saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou
shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not
bear false witness, Honour thy father and
thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. The young man
saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up:
what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect,
go
and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor,
and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come
and follow me. But when the young man heard
that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great
possessions.” There is a young man who comes to Jesus Christ seeking eternal life
and leaves without it. If he had no desire for eternal life he
would not have come to Jesus. Again they hope their readers will
not find these verses.
Question 9 - 11 Why then do you preach, if you are already sure that
all of the elect are going to be saved in Heaven?
Answer: For the comfort and instruction of the Lord’s people (Isaiah
40:1-2,9; Ephesians
4:11-16)
Question 10
- Don’t you believe that the preaching of the gospel is God’s ordained
means of bringing eternal salvation to the sinner?
Answer: No, only by the direct operation of the Holy Spirit can
eternal life be brought to the dead sinner (John 3:6-8). The
gospel brings life and immortality to
light, but doesn’t produce life (II Timothy
1:10).
Question 11
- How then do you explain I Corinthians
1:21 and passages like it?
Answer: The text says “For after that in the wisdom of God the world
by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of
preaching to save them that believe.” Please notice, that the
one saved by the gospel
is a believer, one who believes in God, one
who has already been born again; he is not an alien sinner.
Rebuttal:
In their answer they ignore Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the
power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;
to the Jew first, and also to the Greek”,
I Timothy 2:6
“Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”,
and I Corinthians 1:21
“For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew
not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save
them that believe.” They twist the “believe” part to conform to their doctrine,
forgetting Romans 10:9-10
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the
dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation.” and Ephesians
1:13 “In whom ye also
trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation:
in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that
holy Spirit of promise,”.
Any fool knows you must believe to be saved and in order to
believe you must hear the Word of God. Romans
10:17
“So then faith
cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Questions 12 - 20 are not worth dealing with
so we will skip to:
Question 21 -
Can you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are saved?
Answer:
In response to this question we would ask another; does any man
have access to the Lamb’s Book of Life? Of course there is but
one answer. No man knows the names which are recorded there, so
we must say with Paul, “In hope of eternal life” (Titus 1:2). We
are confident that the God Who cannot lie is going to save those
He loved before the world began, and we have the sweet hope of
being in the number. When Jesus said one of His disciples world
deny Him and was a devil from the beginning, they all asked,
“Lord , is it I?” We must acknowledge that if some can be
deceived, thinking they are a child of God, but are not, we
could be in that number. A humble expression of hope in the
mercy of God is far more befitting the little child of grace
than a presumptuous boast that he knows he is secure.
Rebuttal: It is amazing that you can have a good education and the
devils of Hell still blind a you to the place you can’t read six
grade English. Let’s look at the scripture. In I John 5:12-13
“He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I
written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God;
that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may
believe on the name of the Son of God.”
it is plain that if you have been born again, have Jesus Christ
abiding in you, then through the scriptures you can know
you have eternal life. When people ignore scriptures like these,
they would be better off to write a new Bible called sheep food
that would match their doctrine than to be made a fool of with
the King James Bible.
Questions 25 and 26 - Is not the word the means by which we are
born again?
Answer: It is true that we are born again by the Word of God which
liveth and abideth for ever, but that Word is not the written
word, or the preached word, but the living Word - Christ (John
1:1,2,14; I Peter 1:23-25). “And this is the word which by the
gospel is preached unto you.” The Word and the gospel are two
distinct things. Christ and the message of Christ are not
synonymous. The gospel is the good news of what Christ has done
for His people.
Question 26 - Do Primitive Baptist believe in preaching the
gospel to sinners? Answer: Yes, because the only people in the
world interested in the gospel of grace are poor needy sinners.
A man must be made sensible of his sin by the Spirit, must be
born again to receive the gospel message (Luke
5:31,32; I Corinthians
2:14).
The gospel is not addressed to the dead alien sinner but to the
burdened sinner (Matthew
11:28-30).
Rebuttal: John 1:1-2,14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the
beginning with God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among
us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten
of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
This scripture
is talking about Jesus Christ, The Word of
God when you compare I Peter 1:23-25 “Being born again, not
of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God,
which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh
is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass
withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of
the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the
gospel is preached unto you.”
with Matthew 13:3-30, 37-41. In both of these scriptures the
word word is not capitalized as it is in John 1 and in
their answer to their question, but they hoped you would not
notice that. They make two classes of sinner, the dead alien
sinners and the burdened sinner. The Bible declares that any
person that has not been born spiritually, John 3:6-8 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of
the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must
be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou
hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh,
and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the
Spirit.”
is dead, Ephesians 2:1-2,5 “And you
hath he quickened,
who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye
walked according to the course of this world, according to the
prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in
the children of disobedience Even when we were dead in sins,
hath quickened us together with Christ,”, and that there is no difference, all are sinners. Romans 3:22-23
“Even the righteousness of God
which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe:
for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and
come short of the glory of God;”
You can’t find the term “burdened sinner” in any verse of scripture in
God’s King James Bible, you might find it in a sheep food bible.
Who did Jesus come to save? Luke
19:10
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
He must not have come to save the elect, there has never been a time
when they were lost seeing they have been in Christ since before
the foundation of the world. Let us consider one more scripture.
1Tim.
1:15 This
is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus
came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. You will notice Paul did not say chief burdened
sinner. And I am sure he said what he meant and meant what he
said.
Question 27 - Do you call upon men to repent
and believe?
Answer: Yes, the
burdened sinner ought to repent and believe the truth. The one
who thus repents, believes, and is baptized is going to be
saved(Mark 16:16).
The salvation involved here is not that which takes a man to
Heaven, but that which saves his life here in the world (Acts
2:40).
Rebuttal:
By ignoring scriptures like Luke 13:3
“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise
perish.”,
Acts 17:30-31 “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but
now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath
appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in
righteousness by
that man whom he hath ordained;
whereof
he hath given assurance unto all
men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.” and II Corinthians 7:10
“For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be
repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death”
and wrongly applying Acts 2:40
“And with many other words did he testify
and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward
generation.”
they again confuse the salvation issue. In Acts
2:40 it was not the repentance that saved those Jews from the untoward
generation who had crucified Jesus. When a Jew was baptized in
the name of Jesus thereby identifying himself with Jesus Christ,
his people who were not saved counted him as dead and would have
nothing else to do with him. So when they were baptized it set
them apart from other Jews who did not believe and had not
repented of crucifying Jesus.
What
About?
Jacob and Esau:
Romans 9:10-14 And not only
this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one,
even by our father Isaac; (For
the children
being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil,
that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not
of works, but of him that calleth;) It was said unto her, The
elder shall serve the younger. As it is written,
Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say
then?
Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
As we approach this scripture
you must keep in mind that the context is about
Israel, verses 1-5, so this is a national election not individuals, and it
is amazing that a lot of the elect went to hell.
In verses 9-14 I would like to point out a few simple and easy to be
understood phrases. The children having done no good or evil,
the elder was elected to serve ( not be saved) the younger.
Next, the scripture says “Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I
hated.” Now when was this phrase written? Malachi 1:1-3 The
burden of the word of the LORD to
Israel by Malachi. I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein
hast thou loved us?
Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob, And I
hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for
the dragons of the wilderness.
This was written many hundreds of years after these two lived.
Why did He hate Esau? Answer: Gen 25:32 And Esau said,
Behold, I
am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and
he sold his birthright unto Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and
pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and
went his way: thus Esau despised
his birthright.
Esau hated his birth right
and God said
He hated Esau because of it. Now that was
simple, unless you are a Calvinist.
Pharaoh:
Rom 9:17-18 For the scripture saith unto
Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that
I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be
declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on
whom he will
have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
The Calvinist say that God raised him up from birth, but if you
believe the bible and know a little bit about it, you
know He raised him up as a king, Dan 2:20-21
Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever
and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the
times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings:
he giveth wisdom
unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:. Amazing what you can learn if you only believe the book.
The question that answers this whole problem is “When did God harden
Pharaoh’s heart?". Answer: You Calvinist will like this because
God uses His foreknowledge to tell Moses what Pharaoh will do
before he does it. Exodus
3:19
And I am sure that the king of
Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.
When Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Exodus 5:1-2 Thus
saith the LORD God of
Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the
wilderness. And Pharaoh said, Who
is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let
Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let
Israel go. Pharaoh hardens his own
heart Exodus 5:1-2. It is in Exodus 7 before
God hardens Pharaoh’s heart Exodus.7:11 Then Pharaoh also
called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of
Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For they cast
down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's
rod swallowed up their rods. And he hardened Pharaoh's heart,
that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said. And the
LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart
is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go.
Calvinist say Pharaoh
had no chance to be saved due to God hardening his heart. There
are two things wrong in what they say: 1. Salvation is not in
the context, but when you are hung up on nonsense you can’t see
truth. 2. From the time Pharaoh hardens his heart till God
hardens it he had plenty of time to change his mind.
Vessels Of Honour and Dishonour
Romans 9:20-24 Nay but, O man, who art thou
that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him
that formed
it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the
potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel
unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
What if God, willing to shew
his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering
the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: And that he might
make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy,
which he had afore prepared unto glory, Even us, whom he hath
called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? When God forms anything it is in Genesis
1:1 or after. We are all formed from the seed of Adam. If a
person is a vessel of dishonor he can change that by being saved
or if he is a Christian, by living a Godly life and not
believing false doctrine like Calvinism.
II Timothy
2:19
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal,
The Lord knoweth
them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from
iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels
of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and
some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore
purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour,
sanctified, and meet for the master's use,
and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow
righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the
Lord out of a pure heart. But foolish and unlearned questions
avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
Here we see these vessels that belong to
the Lord, some to honour, some to dishonor, but if a man will do
what God tells him, he can improve his standing from dishonor to
honor. On the other hand, it can work in reverse.
Ephesians Chapter 1:
4-16
Eph. 1:4
According as he hath chosen us in him before
the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without
blame before him in love:
He chose that all who are in him should be holy
and without blame. Before the foundation of the world,
tells us when he choose these results of salvation. Before the
foundation of the world he had no body for those who get saved
to be placed in. Now look at Eph. 1:11-12 the order of
predestination.
Eph. 1:5
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of
children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good
pleasure of his will,
See verse 11-12 below
Eph. 1:6
To the praise of the glory of his grace,
wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
When we get in Christ we are accepted and
this has to be in time.
Eph. 1:7
In whom we have redemption through his
blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his
grace;
Our redemption is through his shed blood. He
did not shed His blood in eternity but in time.
Eph. 1:8
Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all
wisdom and prudence;
He has abounded toward us with all wisdom and
prudence (the ability to govern self) in other words, be able to
live a separated holy life in this present world
Eph. 1:9
Having made known unto us the mystery of his
will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in
himself:
The mystery was concealed in the old
testament that Jesus would die on a cross for the sin of the
world. It was His pleasure to make it known to the apostle Paul
that he could make it known to the world through the scriptures.
I Cor. 2:7, I Cor. 4:1, Rom. 16:25, Eph. 3:3-9 and 6:19, Col.
1:26-27.
Eph. 1:10 That in the dispensation of the
fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in
Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth;
even in him:
The Dispensation of the fulness of times
takes place after the thousand year reign of Christ, then He
will offer everything unto God. 1 Corinthians 15:23-28
Eph 1:11-12
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being
predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all
things after the counsel of his own will:
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in
Christ.
Predestinated that we should be to the praise
of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. Don’t stop here read
on.
Eph
1:13
In whom ye also
trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye
believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of
promise,
When did you trust? After you heard the word
of truth, the gospel of your salvation.
After ye heard, ye believed and ye were sealed.
Do you Calvinist teach that you were in Christ before the
foundation of the world but could have lost God’s salvation
before ye were sealed in time even though God predestined you to
preserve?
Do you expect people to believe this nonsense?
Eph
1:14
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until
the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of
his glory.
The sealing by and with the holy spirit is
the earnest of our redemption, not getting in Christ before the
foundation of the world.
Eph
1:15
Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and
love unto all the saints,
“Heard of your faith”, not your
predestination, that is what Paul rejoiced in. You Calvinist are
so possessed with election, election is what you rejoice in. So
as a rule, all you preach is “Jacob have I love and Eusa have I
hated” and know nothing about the whole council of God, or the
love of God who would send His son to die for people who would
never love him.
Romans
9:19
Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet
find fault? For who hath resisted his will? “Who hath resisted the will of God?” is a question not a statement,
so I will list several people who resisted his will:
Adam
Pharaoh
David
Many of the kings of
Judah
and all the kings of
Israel
Paul (before and after he was saved)
Peter
The people who Steven preached to.
How many do I have to list to prove the
point?
I do not say all Calvinist or Primitive
Baptist are lost but for them to twist the scriptures the way
they do they are surely devil possessed or just full of fleshly
pride and cockiness always trying to impress others as to how
smart they are. As stated previously, if you must change a King
James Bible to prove your doctrine, then your doctrine is wrong
and you think you are smarter than God, therefore you become
your own authority and a fool.
This doctrine will kill your desire to win souls
and support missionaries so it is a doctrine of devils. It also
keeps you from being your best for Jesus Christ and will cause
you to loose rewards at the Judgment Seat Of Christ.
You must decide
whether you will be the authority or summit to the
will and authority of God almighty thereby stop putting words in
his mouth.
The Primitive Baptist, Jehovah Witness,
Mormons and
Church
of
Christ
are like a skunk and a pole cat, they are in the
same stinking business.
This was written to a Calvinist thought he was really smart, but
he is not smarter than a King James bible. I never heard from
him again.
